Abstract

This study aimed to describe the characterization of the main character in the novel of Anak Sejuta Bintang and Surat Dahlan, intertextual relations between these two novels, as well as their relevance as literature teaching materials in senior high school. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. Sources of data in this study are novel of Anak Sejuta Bintang by Akmal Nasery Basral and Surat Dahlan by Khrisna Pabichara. The results of this study indicate that the characterization of the main character in the novel of Anak Sejuta Bintang and Surat Dahlan using the direct and indirect method. Anak Sejuta Bintang is a hypogramme work, while Surat Dahlan is a transformation work. Both Anak Sejuta Bintang and Surat Dahlan can be used as an alternative literature teaching materials in senior high school reviewed from the aspects of the curriculum and literary.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakterisasi tokoh utama dalam novel Anak Sejuta Bintang dan novel Surat Dahlan, hubungan intertekstual antara kedua novel, serta relevansinya sebagai bahan ajar sastra di SMA. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Anak Sejuta Bintang karya Akmal Nasery Basral dan novel Surat Dahlan karya Khrisna Pabichara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa karakterisasi tokoh utama dalam novel Anak Sejuta Bintang dan novel Surat Dahlan menggunakan metode langsung dan tidak langsung. Anak Sejuta Bintang merupakan sebuah karya hipogram, sementara Surat Dahlan merupakan sebuah karya transformasi. Novel Anak Sejuta Bintang dan novel Surat Dahlan dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif bahan ajar sastra di SMA ditinjau dari aspek kurikulum dan aspek kesastraan.Kata kunci: bahan ajar sastra, karakterisasi tokoh, novel.
