<![CDATA[AbstractThis article tries to highlight the intent and purpose of the Lord Jesus' sermon on the mount to His disciples in the context of Matthew 5:10-11. Jesus' sermon on the mount was a joy that came to His disciples through suffering. The purpose of this research is to provide a new understanding that the suffering that comes to the followers of Jesus today is the formation to achieve an eternal happiness (theosis) itself. In this study the author uses the literature method and interacts with related biblical texts so as to produce three main topics of discussion of happiness behind suffering, namely; Those who pursue the truth are blessed because they are the ones who own the Kingdom of Heaven, Blessed are you when you are reproached and persecuted and All evil (lies) are against you for my sake. So the three things according to the author reveal the happiness behind the suffering that leads to eternal happiness or theosis. Keywords: lord jesus, happiness, suffering, theosis AbstrakArtikel ini mencoba menyoroti maksud dan tujuan khotbah Tuhan Yesus di Bukit kepada murid-murid-Nya dalam konteks Matius 5:10-11. Khotbah Yesus di Bukit merupakan kebahagiaan yang datang kepada murid-Nya melalui penderitaan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini, memberikan pemahaman baru bahwa penderitaan yang datang kepada pengikut Yesus saat ini ialah pembentukan untuk mencapai sebuah kebahagiaan kekal (theosis) itu sendiri. Dalam kajian ini penulis menggunakan metode literatur dan berinteraksi dengan teks-teks alkitab yang berhubungan sehingga menghasilkan tiga pokok pembahasan dari kebahagian dibalik penderitaan, yaitu; Yang mengejar kebenaran diberkati karena merekalah yang empunya Kerajaan Sorga, Diberkati kamu bila kamu dicela dan dianiaya dan Semua kejahatan (dusta) melawan kamu demi Aku. Jadi ketiga hal tersebut menurut penulis mengungkapkan kebahagiaan dibalik penderitaan yang mengarahkan diri kepada kebahagiaan kekal atau theosis.
