Abstract

Earthquake hazard mapping on Halmahera Island has been carried out using the scenario of the September 11, 2008 Halmahera earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6. Analysis using deterministic methods with attenuation function Zao et al modification for Sulawesi region. The parameters used in the calculation are magnitude, earthquake depth, epicenter distance to the research location, source mechanism, and Vs30. Results obtained in the form of distribution of PGA and earthquake intensity in North Maluku ranged from 0.006g to 1.85g, with earthquake intensity ranging from III MMI to VIII MMI. The greatest PGA value and earthquake intensity are in the West and North Halmahera region, where the area is close to the source of the earthquake.
