<![CDATA[The fast-spreading Covid-19 disease creates mental health problems for nurses related to the increasing number of patients, excessive workload and hours accompanied by inadequate personal protective equipment. The aim of this study is to analyze the mental health status of nurses in managing Covid-19 patients in South Sulawesi. The type of research is a descriptive observational research design. This research was conducted online by involving 7 referral hospitals with Covid-19 in South Sulawesi Province which will be implemented on August until December 2020. The sample in this study were 83 nurses who were in charge of treating Covid-19 patients at the South Sulawesi Covid-19 Referral Hospital, who were selected by the cluster random sampling technique. Mental health status was measured using the DASS-21 instrument. The majority of nurses do not feel symptoms of anxiety, stress or depression when dealing with Covid-19 patients. However, there are nurses who experience severe anxiety and even very severe and there are also nurses who experience extreme depression. The results of the nurses' answers stated that sometimes they find it difficult to relax because of the increased workload (47%), sometimes their feelings are easily moved or touched (55.4%). There are 3.6% of nurses who always find it difficult to feel positive (happy, proud, etc.) There are even nurses who are not enthusiastic about anything (1.2%). Nurses who treat Covid-19 patients have good mental health status, tend not to experience stress, anxiety or depression.]]>
