Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar IPS antara siswa yang mengikuti  model PAKEM berbantuan media gambar  dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional sebelum dan setelah variabel motivasi belajar dikendalikan dan besar kontribusi motivasi belajar terhadap hasil belajar IPS pada siswa yang mengikuti model PAKEM berbantuan media gambar dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh Siswa siswa kelas VI SD 4 Tonja Denpasar.  penentuankan sampel digunakan teknik random sampling. Data dianalisis dengan analisis varians satu jalan dan analisis kovarian (Anakova) 1 jalan dengan uji-F. Penelitian ini termasuk  penelitian eksperimen dengan rancanganâ post-test only control group designâ.Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa: (1) perbedaan hasil belajar IPS antara siswa yang mengikuti pelajaran dengan model PAKEM berbantuan media gambar dan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model konvensional, (2) perbedaan hasil belajar IPS antara siswa yang mengikuti pelajaran menggunakan model PAKEM berbantuan media gambar dan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional setelah dikendalikan pengaruh motivasi belajar dan (3) kontribusi yang positif dan signifikan antara motivasi belajar dengan hasil belajar IPS. Kata Kunci : media gambar, model PAKEM,  model pembelajaran konvensional, motivasi belajar This study aims at discovering the difference of social study learning achievement between students who were following PAKEM teaching model assissted with picture media and students who were following conventional teaching model after and before the learning motivation toward social study learning achievement were controlled. The population of this study was all students of Class VI SD 4 Tonja Denpasar. The sample was chosen by using random sampling technique. The collected data were analyzed by using One-Way ANOVA and One-Way ANACOVA with F-test. This is an experiment research of post-test only control group design. Based on the data analysis, it was found that: (1) there is a difference of social study learning achievement between students who were following PAKEM teaching model assissted with picture media and students who were following conventional teaching model, (2) there is a difference of social study learning achievement between students who were following PAKEM teaching model assissted with picture media and students who were following conventional teaching model after the contribution of learning motivation was controlled and (3) there is a positive and significant contribution between studentsâ learning motivation and social study learning achievement.keyword : conventional teaching, learning motivation, PAKEM teaching , picture media
