Research objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and adherence to taking medication for tuberculosis sufferers at Bhayangkara Hospital Makassar in 2018. Methods: The study design used an analytic descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. In this study, researchers wanted to see the relationship between support and medication adherence. The sampling technique in this study was to use purposive sampling which is a sampling technique by selecting samples from among the populations that are in accordance with what the researcher wants. Results: Table 5.7 shows that of the 171 tuberculosis patients who received good social support and were compliant in taking medication, 53.8% were non-compliant and 9.4% were disobedient. Meanwhile, patients who received poor social support and were compliant in taking medication were 5.9% and 30.9% disobedient. The results of statistical analysis obtained a p-value of 0.000 <0.05, this means that there is a significant relationship between social support and adherence to taking medication in tuberculosis patients. Conclusion: there is a significant relationship between social support and adherence to taking medication for tuberculosis patients at Bhayangkara Hospital Makassar in 2018. Suggestion: For hospitals it is expected to increase the role of health workers in health promotion as health educators regarding the importance of social support in tuberculosis patients
