Relationship between Physical Activity Level and Water Consumption with Constipation of Faculty of Medicine StudentsAbstractLack of physical activity and water consumption are factors that can cause constipation. Less physical activity will reduce the peristaltic movement of the intestines. In contrast, less consumption of white water will enhance the stress response of the stomach and increase the intake of fecal water in low hydration conditions. The study was designed observational analytically and used cross-sectional methods with 89 respondents. The study was conducted at the Medical Faculty of Universitas Islam Bandung (FK Unisba) in March-April 2022. To measure the variables of the level of physical activity, the International Physical Activity Questionnaires (IPAQ) questionnaires were used, the daily fluid adequacy figures of Kemenkes RI were used, and the Patient Assessment of Constipation- Symptoms (PAC-SYM) questionnaire was used. The majority of respondents in this study were women (74%). Daily fluid consumption is mostly in the low category (94%). Respondents in this study had mild physical activity (38%) and moderate physical activity (42%), while with heavy physical activity only 20%. The two-way analysis showed no meaningful relationship between the amount of water consumption (p=0.156) and physical activity (p =0.675) with constipation. The study concluded that there was no relationship between physical activity and water consumption with constipation for students of the FK Unisba-Bandung.
