Abstract

Hasil-hasil penelitian terdahulu menunjukkan musik memiliki pengaruh terhadap banyak hal, termasuk kecerdasan. Namun pada implementasinya pendidikan musik di Indonesia masih bersifat sebagai pelengkap. Penelitian ini berusaha untuk menggambarkan mekanisme pendidikan musik dalam ranah ekstrakurikuler paduan suara sebagai sebuah stimulasi kecerdasan dari sudut pandang teori multiple intelligences. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus yang mengambil lokasi SMA Katolik Giovanni Kupang. Hasilnya kegiatan ekstrakurikuler paduan suara SMA Katolik Giovanni Kupang berpotensi menstimulasi kecerdasan dan memiliki posisi sebagai peningkatan kemampuan musik, peningkatan pemaknaan ketuhanan dan pelestarian musik daerah. CHOIR EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AS STIMULATION OF MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES IN GIOVANNI KUPANG CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOLPrevious research has shown that music affects many things, including intelligence. However, the implementation of music education in Indonesia is still complementary. This study seeks to describe the mechanism of music education in the extracurricular realm of choir as a stimulation of intelligence from the point of view of multiple intelligences theory. This study applies a qualitative method with a case study approach that takes the location at Giovanni Kupang Catholic High School. The result is that the extracurricular activities of Giovanni Kupang Catholic High School Choir have the potential to stimulate intelligence and have a position to increase the musical ability, to increase the meaning of divinity and the preservation of regional music.
