<![CDATA[The big role of the family as a person who is very close to the client is to be able to take good care of and even make the elderly with disabilities become independent and prosperous in the their old age. The quality of life of the elderly has 4 domains in their life, namely physical health, psychological health, social relations, and environmental aspects where these four needs must be fulfilled. If these needs are not met, problems will arise in the life of the elderly which can reduce their quality of life. The purpose of this study was to apply the Self Care Assistance for Families in Improving the Quality of Life of the Elderly in Rejang Lebong Regency. The research design used a Quasy Experiment using a Pretest-Postest with Control Group. The population of this study was elderly with disabilities, the sample was 20 people in the intervention group and 20 people in the control group. The results showed that there were differences in the application of self-care assistance by families in the intervention group and control group before and after being given assistance (p value 0.001) and there was an effect of assistance in the application of self-care assistance by families on the Quality of Life of the Elderly in Rejang Lebong district ( p value.0.001). Based on qualitative data after being given assistance to their families, elderly people with disabilities feel happy to be close to their families, their bodies feel cleaner and more comfortable, and they feel cared for. The conclusion is the self-care assistance can improve the quality of life for elderly people with disabilities.]]>
