Traditional Gayo vocal arts, particularly didong, are significant components of Central Aceh's cultural legacy and ethnic identity. In this context, field screenings of ethnic songs in the Aceh Library are critical for gaining a comprehensive knowledge of the core significance of Didong in the Gayo vocal legacy. The purpose of this research is to investigate and analyze the primary components of didong, the vocal basis of Gayo tradition, in order to better understand the effect they have on tradition and ethnic identity in the region. This research method employs a qualitative approach, with data collected through direct observation, interviews, and text analysis. Collaboration with well-known artists Gayo Wiratmadinata and Peteriana Kobat enriches the field study technique and delivers firsthand viewpoints from artistic practitioners. As a result, this study adds significantly to our understanding of traditional Gayo vocal arts, particularly Didong, while also highlighting the region's extensive cultural past.
