Abstract

Abstrack This study aims to describe the use of experimental methods to train fourth grade students' critical thinking skills in science subjects, the subject of heat energy. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The research subjects were 24 students of SDN 197 Karang Taruna Karang Sari. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, documentation and tests.Data analysis according to Miles and Huberman, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions.The validity of the data used source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the application of the experimental method can improve students' critical thinking skills.This is evidenced by the increase in the average score of students' critical thinking skills which at the beginning before using the experimental method was much below the KKM, after using the experimental method reached 77.83 and was in the good category.Key words: Experimental method, critical thinkingAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan Penggunaan metode eksperimen untuk melatih kemampuan berfikir kritis siswa kelas IV pada mata pelajaran IPA pokok bahasan energi panas. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subyek penelitian siswa berjumlah 24 siswa SDN 197 KarangTaruna Karang Sari.Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan tes.Analisis data sesuai Miles dan Huberman, yaitu pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan pengambilan kesimpulan.Keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teknik.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode ekperimen dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan meningkatnya rata-rata skor kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang pada awal sebelum menggunakan metode eksperiman banyak di bawah KKM,setelah menggunakan metode eksperimen mencapai angka 77,83 dan masuk dalam kategori baik.Kata kunci : Metode eksperimen, berpikir kritis
