Abstract

Pembelajaran Bahasa Indoensia yang semula berfokus pada struktur dan tata bahasa, sekarang berada pada empat kompetensi berbahasa penting untuk menunjang pembelajaran lain yang juga menggunakan bahasa Indonesia, yaitu mendengarkan, berbicara, membaca, dan menyimak. Pemahaman akan suatu bahasa dimulai dari pemahaman akan kosakatanya. Teks eksplanasi meru­pakan teks yang menjelaskan sebab akibat suatu peristiwa bisa terjadi. Dalam menjelaskan terjadi­nya suatu peristiwa, teks eksplanasi menggunakan kosakata yang berbeda dengan teks-teks lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara tingkat penguasaan kosakata dengan kemampuan memahami hubungan kausalitas tes eksplanasi. Penelitian ini ter­masuk penelitian kuantitatif. Data diperoleh melalui instrumen tes dari kedua variabel. Populasi dari penelitian ini ialah seluruh siswa kelas XI IBB SMA Laboratorium Malang. Peminatan IBB (Ilmu Bahasa dan Budaya) dipilih karena siswa yang telah masuk ke peminatan ini telah terseleksi dan mempunyai minat dan bakat di bidang bahasa. Kelas XI dipilih karena materi teks eksplanasi terdapat pada kelas XI. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa kedua variabel saling berhubungan. Hubungan antar variabel bernilai positif yang artinya semakin tinggi nilai variabel tingkat pengua­saan kosakata, maka semakin tinggi pula nilai variabel kemampuan memahami hubungan kausalitas teks eksplanasi, dan sebaliknya. Kata kunci: kosakata; Ilmu Bahasa dan Budaya; teks eksplanasi Correlation between Vocabulary Mastery Level and Understanding Ability Causality Relationship of Explanation Text of Grade XI Students of Language and Culture Specialization Learning Indonesian which originally focused on structure and grammar, now focuses on four important language competencies to support other learning which also uses Indonesian, namely listening, speaking, reading and listening. Understanding a language starts from understanding its vocabulary. Explanatory text is text that explains the causes and effects of an event that occurred. In explaining the occurrence of an event, explanatory text uses different vocabulary from other texts. This research aims to find out whether there is a relationship between the level of vocabulary mastery and the ability to understand the causality relationship in the explanation test. This research includes quantitative research. Data was obtained through test instruments for both variables. The population of this study was all students of class XI IBB SMA Laboratory Malang. The IBB (Language and Culture Science) specialization was chosen because students who have entered this specializa­tion have been selected and have interest and talent in the field of languages. Class XI was chosen because explanatory text material is found in class XI. The results of data analysis show that the two variables are interconnected. The relationship between variables is positive, which means that the higher the value of the vocabulary mastery variable, the higher the value of the variable for the ability to understand causal relationships in explanatory text, and vice versa.
