The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of the learning environment on students' characters mediated by interest in reading novels. This research adopts a quantitative approach with explanatory research design. The subjects of the study are 11th-grade students majoring in Social Studies who take Indonesian language subjects at public high schools in Malang City, with a total sample size of 262 students. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is employed to analyze the hypotheses. The results of this study indicate that there is an enhancement of students' characters through self-potential development, which is influenced by the learning environment and directed by interest in reading novels. The learning environment supports the creation of opportunities for students to develop an interest in reading novels. Interest in reading novels serves as a mediation or link between the learning environment and the development of students' characters. Therefore, the findings of this study affirm that motivation to read novels can play a crucial role in shaping students' characters through the utilization of self-potential that occurs in a conducive learning environment. AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menganalisis pengaruh lingkungan belajar terhadap karakter siswa yang dimediasi oleh minat baca novel. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif jenis explanatory research. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI Peminatan Sosial yang menempuh mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SMA Negeri di Kota Malang, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 262 siswa. Untuk menganalisis hipotesis, digunakan alat analisis Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Top of FormHasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan karakter siswa melalui pengembangan potensi diri, yang dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan belajar dan diarahkan oleh minat membaca novel. Lingkungan belajar mendukung terciptanya kesempatan bagi siswa untuk mengembangkan minat dalam membaca novel. Minat membaca novel menjadi mediasi atau penghubung antara lingkungan belajar dan perkembangan karakter siswa. Dengan demikian, hasil penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa motivasi membaca novel dapat berperan penting dalam membentuk karakter siswa melalui pemanfaatan potensi diri yang terjadi dalam lingkungan belajar yang kondusif.
