ABSTRAK Penelitian yang berjudul “Upaya Meningkatkan Kemampuan Membaca Pemahaman Mahasiswa Melalui Metode PQ4R pada Mata Kuliah Bahasa Mandarin Prodi Administrasi Perkantoran D-3 Universitas Pamulang.” dipilih oleh penulis karena masih banyak mahasiswa yang kurang lancar dan kurang memahami text bacaan, akibatnya sebagian besar mahasiswa kurang aktif dalam membaca. Banyak sekali kesalahan-kesalahan dalam melafalkan dan memahami teks. Karena permasalahan ini, untuk membantu mahasiswa agar mudah mengingat materi yang mereka baca dari text bacaan, maka diperlukan metode pembelajaran, salah satunya metode PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui upaya peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman Mahasiswa melalui Metode PQ4R pada mata kuliah bahasa Mandarin di Prodi Administrasi Perkantoran D-3 Universitas Pamulang. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester I regular C kelas 645 D-3 Administrasi Perkantoran Universitas Pamulang dengan jumlah 12 mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah mix method. Analisis kuantitatif yang terdiri dari empat langkah, yaitu perencanaan (planning), tindakan (action), pengamatan (observing), dan refleksi (reflecting) dengan prosentase kenaikan, sedangkan analisis kualitatif dilakukan dengan cara menganalisis data dari hasil catatan lapangan, tes, dan dokumentasi selama penelitian. Adapun jurnal ilmiah yang menjadi sasaran yaitu jurnal sekretari universitas pamulang, dan luaran penelitian yaitu Publikasi Ilmiah Jurnal Sekretari Universitas Pamulang, dan menjadi pemakalah dalam pertemuan ilmiah lokal. Kata kunci : kemampuan membaca, pemahaman, metode PQ4R EFFORTS TO IMPROVE STUDENTS' READING COMPREHENSION ABILITY THROUGH THE PQ4R METHOD IN THE MANDARIN LANGUAGE COURSE OF D-3 OFFICE ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM PAMULANG UNIVERSITY ABSTRACT The research entitled "Efforts to Improve Students' Reading Comprehension Ability Through the PQ4R Method in the Mandarin Language Subject at Office Administration Diploma, Pamulang University." chosen by the author because it comes from the idea that there are still many students who are not fluent and do not understand the reading text, as a result most students are less active in reading. Lots of mistakes in pronouncing and understanding the text. Because of this problem, to help students easily remember the material they read from reading texts, learning methods are needed, one of which is the PQ4R method (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review). The purpose of this study was to find out the efforts to improve students' reading comprehension skills through the PQ4R Method in the Mandarin language course at Office Administration Diploma, Pamulang University. The subjects of this study were students in the first semester of regular C class 645 Office Administration Diploma at Pamulang University with a total of 12 students. The method used in this study is the mix method. Quantitative analysis which consists of four steps: planning, action, observation, and reflection with the percentage increase, while qualitative analysis is carried out by analyzing data from the results of records fieldwork, tests, and documentation during research. The scientific journals that were targeted were Pamulang University secretarial journals, and research outputs namely Scientific Publications of Pamulang University Secretarial Journals, and became speakers at local scientific meetings.
