Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground : Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience resulting from real and potential tissue damage. A preliminary survey conducted by researchers at BPS Nurhasanah found that in December there were 33 people (100%) giving birth and 16 (48.5%) of them had perineal injuries. While in January there were 17 people (100%) of women giving birth at Nurhasanah Independent Midwife, of which 9 (52.9%) had perineal injuries. The purpose of this study is to know the effect of giving ice packs with decreasing perineal pain in maternal suture wounds at Nurhasanah, S.Tr.Keb. Independent Midwife of Bandar Lampung City year of 2019.Research Method : Quantitative research type, Quasi Experimental research design with a pretest - posttest with control group approach. Population and sample of 30 people, purposive sampling technique beside data analysis using univariate and bivariate, with statistical t-test.Result : Average perineal pain in maternal suture wounds at Nurhasanah Independent Midwife for each of the 15 respondents before being given ice packs in the experimental group was 8.20, in the control group was 8.53, in the experimental group that had been given ice packs was 3, 47, and in the control group was 7.33. Statistical test results using an independent test obtained p-value of 0.000 (α 0.05) which means that there is an influence of giving ice packs with a decrease in perineal pain in maternal suture wounds at Nurhasanah, S.Tr.Keb. Independent Midwife Bandar Lampung City in 2019. For further researchers, it is expected that the results of pain reduction studies using ice packs can be used as reference material and input for future researchers because in this study the time is quite short and the process is very easy to do.
