The transformation of the school library is a crucial step to face changing times, especially in efforts to grow the literacy movement. This paper presents an overview of the school library transformation process by exploring the implications and challenges of growing the literacy movement at MA An- Nawawi Berjan Purworejo. Using a descriptive analysis approach, this paper explores the implications of the role of the school library, especially in the context of the literacy movement. The implications are the Improvement of accessibility and the use of Ar-Risalah Library, and the improvement the literacy interest and skills. The author also identified the challenges, such as limited resources, incomplete facilities, lack of awareness to access library resources, and the need for new skills. The result of this paper indicates the importance of the school library as a literacy centre to support students’ holistic learning (religious and general science aspects), such as providing relevant library collections with standards established by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia, providing training for librarians, optimizing facilities, doing collaboration between related institutions or parties, and applying the appropriate technology to strengthen the role of the library as a driving force for literacy. By understanding the implications and challenges of the transformation of the Ar-Risalah Library, this paper aims to provide guidance for education stakeholders, increase the effectiveness of the Ar-Risalah Library in supporting the literacy movement, and provide a positive contribution from this library to the future of Islamic education.
