Poligami adalah fenomena yang ada dalam kehidupan kita. Istilah "poligami" berawal dari bahasa Yunani, yaitu "polygamie," di mana "poly" artinya banyak dan "gamie" artinya pernikahan. Meskipun kata ini sering digunakan, tidak banyak orang yang bisa menerimanya. Banyak wanita menolak poligami dalam keluarga mereka dengan berbagai alasan, sementara ada juga wanita yang menerima dan siap untuk dipoligami oleh suaminya. Adapun kasus ini lelaki meminta izin poligami karena sang wanita tidak sanggup menjalankan kewajibannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis putusan Pengadilan Agama Kebumen tentang izin poligami dalam perspektif Maqasid Al-Syari`ah. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kepustakaan (library research) untuk mendeskripsikan pertimbangan majelis hakim dalam mengabulkan permohonan penggugat (suami) terhadap permohonan tergugat (istri). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa putusan Pengadilan Agama Kebumen telah sesuai dengan Maqasid Al-Syari'ah. Polygamy is a phenomenon that exists in our lives. The term "polygamy" comes from the Greek, namely "polygamie," where "poly" means many and "gamie" means marriage. Although this word is often used, not many people can accept it. Many women reject polygamy in their families for various reasons, while there are also women who accept and are ready to be polygamous by their husbands. In this case, the husband asked for permission for polygamy because his wife did not carry out her obligations. The purpose of the study was to analyze the decision of the Kebumen Religious Court regarding the decision issued by the panel of judges regarding permission for polygamy and to review the decision from the perspective of Maqasid Al-Syari`ah. The method used in this study is library research by outlining the considerations of the panel of judges in granting the petition filed by the plaintiff (husband) against the defendant (wife) which was granted by the panel of judges. The results and conclusions of this study are that the decision issued by the Kebumen Religious Court is in line with Maqasid Al-Syari`ah.
