Abstract

Awareness and Motivation of Foster Children toward Sports at Sentra Paramita Mataram Abstract The aim of this study is to understand the influence of social environment, facilities, and intrinsic motivation on the sports awareness of children at Sentra Paramita Mataram. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, employing observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques, with 10 children as the research subjects. The findings reveal that most children only engage in sports according to the schedule set by the institution, while others exhibit independent initiative. The main barriers to participation include laziness and low motivation. Support from caregivers and adequate facilities have a positive impact, but are less effective in fostering intrinsic motivation. This study concludes that there is a need for an educational sports program that informs children about the benefits of physical activity and enhances intrinsic motivation through social approaches and rewards. The primary recommendation is the development of a structured sports program that involves team activities and peer support.
