<![CDATA[The purpose of writing this article is to learn about Indonesian language learning in elementary school. Learning Indonesian in elementary school is the foundation for fostering students' awareness of the existence of Indonesian as a means of communication and as a unifying tool for this nation. This is expected to improve students' positive attitudes towards Indonesian as a symbol of national identity and pride, and national unity. This article discusses the purpose and function of learning Indonesian obtained from various sources such as the internet, books, or journals. By knowing the purpose and function of learning Indonesian, teachers and students can apply it in their daily lives, especially in an elementary school environment. This article also discusses several strategies that can be used by teachers in the Indonesian language learning process to improve students‘ learning outcomes in the four language skills. The strategies presented in this paper are strategies that have been explored from various literature sources.
