Abstract

The implementation of an inappropriate diet in early adulthood is generally due to the preferences and strengths formed in determining food choices related to various factors that may cause the risk of imbalance nutritional intake in accordance with recommendations. This study aims to analyze the correlation between picky eating behavior and nutritional knowledge with diet quality among IPB University students. Diet quality is measured using the Indonesian Healthy Eating Index (I-HEI), picky eating behavior is measured with the Adult Picky Eating Questionnaire (APEQ), and nutritional knowledge was measured with a structured questionnaire. The cross-sectional study design is conducted with 70 subjects of IPB University’s undergraduate students in Dramaga Campus, Bogor Regency. Data collection is conducted through interviews, and self-administered questionnaire. The average I-HEI score of the subjects was 51.4±12.3 which was categorized as need improvement. Most of the subjects has picky eater behavior (54%). The majority of subjects has low nutritional knowledge (57%). The results showed that there was a significant correlation between picky eating behavior and nutritional knowledge with the diet quality among IPB University students (p<0.05).
