Abstract

To determine the increase in properties produced through the austempering process on FCD-50 in this study with variations in holding time which were then carried out tensile tests and metallographic tests to determine the increase in tensile strength and changes in microstructure in FCD 50 cast iron. By comparing changes in tensile strength and microstructure before and after the austempering process at a temperature of 9000C, then the holding process was carried out for 25-35-45 minutes and rotation was carried out using Water media. Experimentally, this study showed that the average maximum tensile strength of the specimen after treatment increased by 45,355 kgf / mm2, an increase of 20% from the specimen without treatment.
