The purpose of this study was to describe the mistakes made by students in solving straight line equation problems. this type of research is qualitative research. The research subjects were 3 students taken from 23 class VIII students of MTs DDI Singga. The results of this study were reviewed based on Kostolan errors showing that the mistakes made by students in solving problems were conceptual errors and procedural errors. (1) Conceptual errors for students with high abilities, namely: not writing down the formula, for students with moderate abilities, namely: not writing down the formula, and making mistakes in determining the formula, and students with low abilities, namely: making mistakes in determining the formula, and not writing down the formula. (2) and for procedural errors of students with high abilities, namely: inability to manipulate steps in answering a problem, and calculation operation errors, for students with moderate abilities, namely: inability to map the steps in answering a problem, and calculation operation errors, and for students with low abilities, namely: inability to map the steps in answering a problem, and calculation operation errors.
