Social Enterprise is an innovation in the field of business that plays a role in alleviating the problem of poverty in the Banjarmasin region. Social enterprises have emerged as an attractive solution to the problem of poverty by combining aspects of financial sustainability and social impact. The main objective of this research is to analyze how Social Enterprises in Banjarmasin design and implement innovations specifically targeted to reduce poverty in the local community. This study uses a qualitative method using a literature study approach and social functioning theory as an analytical framework. This study finds four fundamental faces of poverty in Banjarmasin: high population growth, unemployment rate, low level of education and unequal income distribution. Researchers analyze that Social Enterprise is presented as an external party whose role is to assist the government in overcoming poverty problems by designing business innovations that focus on empowering people experiencing poverty. This can be seen from several of its functional roles, namely community empowerment in Banjarmasin, including skills training programs, local product development, and access to essential services such as education and health. The implications of this research can guide the development and expansion of similar social enterprises in the region. This illustrates the potential of Social Enterprises in the local context.
