Abstract

Combining Islamic boarding school education with cooperative economic practices is one of the efforts to establish sustainable partnerships. Economic endeavours within the educational system often face ups and downs due to divided focus. Al-Fatimah is one of the most prominent Islamic boarding schools in Bojonegoro, East Java, and has developed cooperative businesses. This cooperative, named Al-Fatimah, operates as an independent business unit and engages in various fields, including MSMEs, laundry, food stalls, and a cafeteria, serving thousands of students. However, the cooperative's management is still not optimal. This research aims to uncover the factors hindering the development and strengthening of Al-Fatimah's cooperative management using a qualitative approach and a case study method. The research results indicate two factors influencing the development of Al-Fatimah's cooperative management: internal and external. Communication is an internal element, and capitalization is an external factor; both are crucial in sustaining the cooperative business at Al-Fatimah Islamic boarding school. Therefore, an improvement in communication and access to capital from partnerships, both internal and external to the boarding school, is needed to ensure the continuity of Al-Fatimah's cooperative.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process and results of implementing multicultural values in developing the social intelligence of students in social studies subjects at SMKN 1 Cihampelas, West Java Province. The research approach used is qualitative descriptive with a study of phenomenological studies. The instruments used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis begins with describing all phenomena experienced by research subjects, horizonalization, cluster of meaning, description of essence, and report of research results. The study results: 1) Social studies teachers plan to learn through syllabi and lesson implementation plans referring to Permendikbudristek No. 16 of 2022; 2) Social studies teachers carry out learning, including introduction, core, and closing activities. Implementing multicultural values has implications for the development of social intelligence; students show empathy, can carry themselves, cooperate, express themselves, and communicate by expressing opinions, ideas, and arguments, as well as mutual need/interdependence; 3) The teacher conducts an assessment covering three aspects, attitudes, knowledge, and skills, which are carried out at the end of the learning process. 4) The supporting factors are the teacher carrying out the learning process following the lesson implementation plan, the support of all school residents, and the positive response from students. The inhibiting factors are inadequate learning facilities, social studies teachers not having a physical form of the systematic assessment form, and lack of supervision from the principal related to learning administration.

Abstract

Oil palm plantations are accused of hurting forest destruction, especially Kalimantan and Sumatra, Indonesia's largest palm oil producers. It is considered unsustainable, so it is a challenge for the area to always pay attention to the use and preservation of the environment to remain maintained and sustainable. This research is intended to analyze the impact of oil palm plantation expansion in three main dimensions, namely economic in the form of national and regional economic growth; ecological, including plantation expansion on land use and climate change; and social, to evaluate the impact of expansion on society in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis data collection methods through trusted sources and a literature review regarding the economic, ecological, and social impacts of oil palm plantation expansion. The research results show that (1) In the economic aspect, the palm oil industry contributes to sustainable development, namely generating foreign exchange, regional development, and successfully creating middle-income farmers. The development of oil palm plantations is also inclusive and attracts the development of other sectors. (2) In the social aspect, the palm oil industry plays a role in rural development, reducing poverty, equalizing economic development, and improving income and development inequality. In contrast, (3) From an ecological perspective, oil palm plantations can produce O2 and increase land biomass to reduce emissions. Greenhouse gases. So, in this case, it can be concluded that expanding oil palm plantations requires balanced regulations to control negative impacts, including sustainable management, ecological monitoring, and fulfilling community rights by seeking collaboration between government, industry, and society in achieving sustainable plantations.
