Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implementasi pendekatan Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika pada materi rasio di kelas VI C SDN Bangetayu Wetan 02. Pendekatan TaRL menekankan pentingnya pengelompokan siswa berdasarkan tingkat kemampuan, bukan berdasarkan usia atau kelas formal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan dua siklus, melibatkan kegiatan asesmen diagnostik, asesmen formatif, observasi, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam hasil belajar siswa. Rata-rata nilai asesmen diagnostik sebesar 49,5 meningkat menjadi 79 pada asesmen formatif. Ditemukan peningkatan aktivitas dan keterlibatan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran, termasuk kepercayaan diri dalam bertanya, diskusi kelompok, dan penyelesaian soal. Pendekatan TaRL juga terbukti efektif dalam mengatasi kesenjangan kemampuan awal siswa dan membangun pondasi numerasi dasar yang kuat. Meskipun terdapat beberapa kendala, seperti keterbatasan waktu dan penyesuaian strategi pembelajaran, solusi yang diterapkan mampu mengatasi hambatan tersebut. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penggunaan pendekatan TaRL sebagai strategi inovatif dalam pembelajaran matematika di jenjang sekolah dasar. ABSTRACT This study aims to examine the implementation of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach to improve mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of ratios in class VI C at SDN Bangetayu Wetan 02. TaRL emphasizes the importance of grouping students based on their actual learning levels rather than age or formal grade. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, involving diagnostic assessment, formatif assessment, observation, and interviews. The findings reveal a significant improvement in student learning outcomes. The average diagnostic assessment score of 49.5 increased to 79 in the formatif assessment. Additionally, student engagement and participation improved, including increased confidence in asking questions, group discussions, and problem-solving. The TaRL approach was also effective in addressing the gap in students' prior knowledge and in strengthening their basic numeracy skills. Despite some challenges such as time constraints and the need for teacher adaptation, the strategies implemented were able to overcome these obstacles. This study recommends the TaRL approach as an innovative strategy for teaching mathematics in primary education. Keywords: Tarl, Learning Outcomes, Mathematics, Ratio, Differentiated Learning
