Metode yang digunakan melalui metode sejarah oleh Kuntowijoyo yang terdiri dari 5 tahap diantaranya pemilihan topik, pengumpulan sumber (heuristik), kritik sumber (verifikasi), interpretasi (penafsiran), dan penulisan (historiografi. Proses deSukarnoisasi yang terframing oleh konten koran harian pada tahun 1966 sampai 1970 merupakan salah satu proses mendelegitimasi peran dan nama Sukarno dimata masyarakat. Tahun 1966 menjadi titik awal adanya proses legitimasi rezim Orde Baru, sehingga lawan politiknya di panggung pemerintahan harus dimarjirnalkan. Melalui pemberitaan koran harian yang memiliki kemiripan dalam polanya, bisa berhasil membuat pembaca terekrontruksi dalam proses ini.
