<![CDATA[Background: Hypertension is a condition or situation where a person experiences an increase in blood pressure above the normal limit, namely more than 140/90 mmHg. Blood pressure can be interpreted as the force exerted by blood circulation on the walls of the body’s arteries, namely the main blood vessels in the body. The amount of this pressure depends on the resistance of the blood vessels and how hard the heart works. The more blood the heart pumps and the narrower the arteries, the higher the blood pressure. Methods: The type of research used is descriptive in the form of a case study with a nursing process approach which includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, nursing intervention, nursing implementation, nursing evaluation and follow-up. Determining the subjects in this study used the numerical rating scale method, namely four elderly people who experienced hypertension with pain problems at the Harapan Kita Social Home in Palembang. Pain assessment uses the numerical rating scale method, namely classifying pain into mild (1-3), moderate (4-6) and severe (7-10). Results: The results showed a decrease in pain levels among patients, from moderate pain to mild pain. Conclusion: Therefore, the application of progressive muscle relaxation nursing techniques in elderly patients with hypertension can reduce their pain levels.]]>
