<![CDATA[Indonesian language learning in the classroom often fails to attract students' interest. This can be attributed to several factors, such as the use of teaching methods or models that are still considered monotonous and do not directly involve students in activities. This study aims to describe the implementation of Game Based Learning in news text material for seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Besuk, as well as to identify the obstacles encountered during the learning process. The background of this study is based on the low interest of students in Indonesian language learning due to the application of conventional teaching models that tend to be monotonous. Game-Based Learning was chosen because it offers an interactive and enjoyable learning approach that can increase student engagement. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that Game-Based Learning was conducted without the use of electronic media but utilized simple tools such as old newspapers and manila paper through several educational games, such as “News Cards,” “Find the Pair,” and “Young Journalist.” Although students appeared active and enthusiastic, the study also identified some challenges, such as time constraints and limited electronic facilities at the school. Overall, the implementation of Game-Based Learning successfully created a fun, collaborative learning environment and encouraged students to be more active in understanding news text materials.]]>
