Abstract

Kata kunci: Atlet Petanque, Kecemasan Bertanding, Pelatihan Mindfulness ABSTRACT: Anxiety during petanque matches can interfere with athletes’ focus and reduce performance. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of mindfulness training in reducing competition anxiety among petanque athletes. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest model was employed, involving 16 participants, 7 in the experimental group and 9 in the control group. Participants were selected using purposive sampling based on expert judgment. Data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney and Wilcoxon tests, with an additional N-Gain Score analysis. Results showed that mindfulness training was not effective in significantly reducing competition anxiety, with an N-Gain Score of 22%. However, there was a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p = .043 < .05). Key words: Petanque Athletes, Competition Anxiety, Mindfulness Training
