This study aims to determine the improvement in underhand pass performance in volleyball through a play-based approach among 11th-grade Inglanfor students at Percut Sei Tuan State High School 1 during the 2023/2024 academic year. The study was conducted at Percut Sei Tuan State High School 1 during the 2023/2024 academic year, with a sample consisting of 34 11th-grade Inglanfor students. To analyze the data in this study and to determine the results in terms of student achievement—both individually and as a class—the research method used was the classroom action research method. Based on the results of the pre-test administered to the 11th-grade Inglanfor students at Percut Sei Tuan State High School 1, out of 34 students, only 8 had achieved the learning proficiency level, with an average score of 23.52%. The results of Cycle I showed that 28 out of 34 students had achieved the learning mastery level, with an average score of 82.35%, representing an improvement in student learning outcomes compared to the previous cycle. This study concludes that the use of a hanging ball can improve the learning process of underhand passing in volleyball among 11th-grade students in the English program at Percut Sei Tuan State High School 1 for the 2023/2024 academic year.
