Abstract

Kata kunci: Tsundoku, Meme, Cultural Studies, X, Media Sosial AbstractThis article culturally examines memes containing the tsundoku phenomenon on social media X or Twitter. Tsundoku is the phenomenon of hoarding or accumulating books first, then reading books is postponed or carried out at a later time. More specifically, this article seeks to explore tsundoku memes in the perspective of biology, body, and culture according to Chris Barker and Emma A. Jane with a qualitative descriptive research method. The data collection technique is simak-catat in the form of categorizing and identifying meme data on social media X that refers to the tsundoku phenomenon. Then, data analysis was carried out based on three lines of activity according to Miles Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification/conclusion drawing. The results show that the exposure of the replication of the idea of the tsundoku phenomenon through memes in social media X is able to shift the body's perspective towards something that is excessive both in the direction of benefits and disadvantages. Through memes, the lifestyle of consumerism in the tsundoku phenomenon becomes normalized. On the other hand, memes related to the tsundoku phenomenon can show a positive impact on the existence of other bodies, namely a good ecosystem and routine, such as the bodies of family members can come 'alive' with a pile of books when one of the body members has a collection or even a small library in the house. Keywords: Tsundoku, Meme, Cultural Studies, X, Social Media
