This study aims to improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, with each cycle including the planning, implementation, observation and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were students of class VII.4 of SMP Negeri 1 Rao Selatan in the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through tests, observations and documentation, then analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques. The results of the study showed an increase in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities after the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model. The improvement occurred because PBL provides students with the opportunity to be actively involved in the learning process. In addition, through group discussions and independent inquiry, students are trained to think and analyzed information processes that strongly support the development of their mathematical problem-solving abilities.
