Limbah plastik menjadi salah satu permasalahan lingkungan paling mendesak di Indonesia, dengan volume tahunan yang terus meningkat dan minimnya strategi pengelolaan di tingkat masyarakat. Meski terdapat berbagai inisiatif daur ulang, masih terdapat kesenjangan pengetahuan terkait penerapan teknologi produksi paving block plastik pada skala rumah tangga, keterlibatan masyarakat marginal, serta bukti kualitas produk dalam penggunaan jangka panjang. Kegiatan ini bertujuan mengembangkan model pengelolaan limbah plastik berbasis service learning komunitas yang mampu menghasilkan paving block ramah lingkungan sesuai standar mutu. Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif diterapkan di sebuah desa mitra dengan melibatkan 30 peserta (ibu rumah tangga dan pemuda) melalui tahapan pengumpulan limbah, pelatihan teknis, produksi, pengujian laboratorium, dan perencanaan pemasaran. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan checklist observasi dan uji tekan, dianalisis secara deskriptif dan kuantitatif. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan kapasitas produksi dari 100 menjadi 200 unit per bulan, mutu produk memenuhi SNI 03-0691-1996 (kuat tekan 27,5 MPa; daya serap air 6,8%; ketahanan aus 0,71 mm/menit), serta peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat sebesar 65%. Model ini membuktikan bahwa teknologi sederhana dapat mencapai kualitas industri bila dikombinasikan dengan pelatihan terarah, dan mampu memberdayakan kelompok rentan secara ekonomi. Ke depan, replikasi model ini berpotensi memperluas dampak pengelolaan limbah plastik sekaligus mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi lokal yang inklusif dan berkelanjutan. Plastic waste is one of the most urgent environmental problems in Indonesia, with annual volumes continuously increasing and limited management strategies at the community level. Although various recycling initiatives exist, there remain knowledge gaps regarding the application of plastic paving block production technology at the household scale, the involvement of marginalized communities, and evidence of product quality over long-term use. This project aimed to develop a community-based service-learning model for plastic waste management capable of producing environmentally friendly paving blocks that meet quality standards. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied in a partner village involving 30 participants (housewives and youth) through stages of waste collection, technical training, production, laboratory testing, and marketing planning. Data were collected using observation checklists and compressive strength tests, and analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. Results showed an increase in production capacity from 100 to 200 units per month, product quality meeting SNI 03-0691-1996 standards (compressive strength 27.5 MPa; water absorption 6.8%; abrasion resistance 0.71 mm/min), and a 65% increase in community participation. This model demonstrates that simple technology can achieve industrial quality when combined with targeted training, while economically empowering vulnerable groups. Moving forward, replicating this model has the potential to expand the impact of plastic waste management while fostering inclusive and sustainable local economic growth.
