Abstract

For linear problems, conventional methods such as Cross and Takabeya can be used to solve them. Nonlinear analysis, on the other hand, involves two types: nonlinear material and nonlinear geometry. Large Deflection Theory falls under the category of Nonlinear Geometry, where the resulting deflection is large enough to affect the structural geometry. The Matrix Analysis method is developed from the linear nature of a structure. To solve nonlinear problems, the load is converted to a smaller load. The problem constraints discussed are Plane Frame analysis, linear elastic material, shear deformation is ignored, thermal effects are ignored, and the element is prismatic.
