The phenomenon of “running away” reflects the emotional, psychological and mental response of generation Z to economic pressures and uncertainty of the future in Indonesia. This expression is a form of dissatisfaction that is not only individual but also overall, especially amidst the increasing unemployment rate, high cost of living, and access and opportunities for decent work. This study aims to understand the motives, meanings, and dynamics behind the act of “running away” as a form of symbolic resistance to a system that is considered oppressive. With a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and social media analysis, this study found that this expression is not just an escape, but a social critique that implies the need for systematic change. This study opens up opportunities for further studies on mental health, social mobility and the role of digital culture in shaping the narrative of generation Z.Keywords: Generation Z, Economic Dissatisfaction, “Just Run Away” Social Expression.
