Abstract

Madrasahs, as newcomers to the national education system, face various obstacles in terms of quality, management, and curriculum. However, madrasahs still have a lot of potential and positive values that can be developed. Madrasahs, as Islamic educational institutions, have been marginalised and unpopular among the public. The approach used by the researcher was a case study approach because this research produced descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people and observable behaviour in the process of planning the madrasah principal's strategy to increase public interest, the process of implementing the strategy, and the factors supporting and hindering the madrasah principal's strategy to increase public interest in MTsN Kota Pasuruan. The results obtained in this study were good planning, one of which was through meetings to make joint decisions, as well as analysing needs and planning the allocation of time and budget required for implementation. The madrasah principal acted as a manager and innovator in coordinating and making policies in the operational implementation of tasks, especially those related to the promotion of educational institutions at MTsN (Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri) in Pasuruan City.
