The Rice Harvesting Tradition is a form of semi-oral folklore that is still preserved by thecommunity of Glinggang Village, Sampung District, Ponorogo Regency. This tradition isheld once a year during the harvest season as an expression of gratitude to God Almightyand a tribute to nature and Dewi Sri, who is believed to be the guardian of rice fertility. Thisstudy discusses various aspects of the Metik Padi tradition, including its origins, theprocedures of the ritual, and efforts to preserve it. A descriptive qualitative approach is usedto provide a clearer understanding of the tradition. Data were collected through bothprimary and secondary sources, using techniques such as observation, interviews,documentation, and research instruments. The results reveal the origins of the Metik Paditradition, the sequence of its rituals, and the philosophical meanings behind each stage.Despite the challenges of modernization, the tradition continues to be preserved through thecollective efforts of the community, local government, educational institutions, and socialmedia ensuring it can be passed down to future generations.
