Abstract

ABSTRAK Standar kecantikan merupakan konstruksi sosial yang dibentuk oleh budaya dan media massa, yang menekan perempuan untuk memenuhi kriteria fisik ideal. Tekanan ini menciptakan pandangan seragam tentangpenampilan, sekaligus merusak kesehatan mental, penerimaan diri, serta memperdalam ketidakadilan gender dan diskriminasi sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis representasi standar kecantikan dalam film Imperfect, mengungkap simbolisme serta ideologi di baliknya, dan dampaknya terhadap kesehatan mental serta relasi sosial perempuan. Analisis dilakukan melalui pemeriksaan elemen visual, dialog, dan narasi terkait pembentukan kecantikan. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa film Imperfect menggambarkan tekanan sosial lewat body shaming, perubahan fisik, dan perbedaan perlakuan terhadap tokoh utama. Film ini juga menyoroti penerimaan dan cinta diri sebagai bentuk penolakan terhadap standar kecantikan yang diskriminatif. Temuantersebut menegaskan peran film sebagai alat refleksi dan pendidikan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran tentang kesehatan mental, kesetaraan gender, dan penghargaan atas keragaman fisik. ABSTRACT Beauty standards are a social construct shaped by culture and mass media, which pressures women to meet ideal physical criteria. This pressure creates a uniform view of appearance, while undermining mental health, self-acceptance, and deepening gender injustice and social discrimination. This study aims to analyze the representation of beauty standards in the film Imperfect, uncover the symbolism and ideology behind it, and itsimpact on women's mental health and social relations. The analysis was carried out through the examination of visual elements, dialogues, and narratives related to the formation of beauty. The results show that the film Imperfect depicts social pressure through body shaming, physical changes, and different treatment of the main character. The film also highlights acceptance and self-love as a form of rejection of discriminatory beauty standards. The findings affirm the role of film as a tool for reflection and education to raise awareness about mental health, gender equality, and appreciation for physical diversity.
