Abstract

ABSTRAK Melalui analisis naratif kualitatif terhadap film Invictus, penelitian ini menyelidiki signifikansi kecerdasan emosional dalam praktik kepemimpinan. Fokus kajian ini adalah pada karakter Nelson Mandela dan strateginya dalam memimpin rekonsiliasi pasca-apartheid di Afrika Selatan. Dengan memeriksa secara mendalam alur cerita, dialog, dan adegan-adegan kunci, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi bagaimana kompetensi emosional termasuk empati, kesadaran diri, regulasi emosi, dan keterampilan sosial berperan penting bagi keberhasilan Mandela dalam menavigasi konflik sosial yang kompleks. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan kepemimpinan transformasional Mandela, yang berlandaskan pada prinsip pengampunan, rekonsiliasi, dan tujuan bersama, secara efektif mempersatukan bangsa yang terfragmentasi serta membangun perdamaian dan solidaritas nasional. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa kapasitas emosional adalah krusial bagi para pemimpin yang menghadapi dinamika konflik dan perubahan sosial, serta merekomendasikan agar pengembangan kecerdasan emosional diprioritaskan sebagai kompetensi inti untuk kepemimpinan yang efektif di semua tingkatan, baik organisasi maupun nasional. ABSTRACT Through a qualitative narrative analysis of the film Invictus, this study investigates the significance of emotionalintelligence in leadership practice. The focus of the study is on the character of Nelson Mandela and his strategy in leading post-apartheid reconciliation in South Africa. By closely examining the plot, dialogue, and key scenes, this research identifies how emotional competencies including empathy, self-awareness, emotion regulation, and social skills were instrumental to Mandela's success in navigating complex social conflict.The findings indicatethat Mandela's transformational leadership approach, which was grounded in the principles of forgiveness, reconciliation, and common goals, effectively united a fragmented nation and built national peace and solidarity. The study concludes that emotional capacity is crucial for leaders facing the dynamics of conflict and social change, and recommends that the development of emotional intelligence be prioritized as a core competencyfor effective leadership at all levels, both organizational and national.
