Abstract

Abstract This research examines effective public relations (PR) management strategies in building a positive school reputation in the public eye, an intangible asset crucial in the era of intense educational competition. Despite the acknowledged important role of PR, many schools in Indonesia still face challenges in implementing structured strategies, including competency gaps in social media management and handling online reputation crises. Digital transformation accelerates the spread of information, allowing school reputations to be built or damaged within hours. The objective of this study is to analyze and formulate the most effective PR management strategies for building and maintaining a positive school reputation in the public eye. The research method employed is a systematic literature review, analyzing various strategic PR management models, digital communication strategies, approaches to reputation crisis management, PR effectiveness measurement, and the integration of local values. Through the analysis of 30 relevant scholarly journal articles and professional publications, the main findings indicate that the two-way symmetric PR model proves most effective, positioning communication as a reciprocal process between the school and its public. Key strategies identified include message consistency and proactive interaction on digital platforms, the ability to respond to crises quickly, transparently, and empathetically, the urgency of integrating local values, and the utilization of authentic narratives and storytelling. The findings also highlight the necessity of addressing capacity gaps in PR implementation within Indonesian schools.
