This study aims to analyze the participation of first-time voters and their level of political understanding during the 2024 Presidential Election in Bekiung Village, Kuala Subdistrict, Langkat Regency. This is a descriptive study employing a qualitative approach. The data used comprise primary data collected through observations and interviews with relevant informants, and secondary data obtained from literature, journals, and other relevant sources. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings reveal that the participation of first-time voters in the 2024 Presidential Election in Bekiung Village remains relatively low. This is closely related to their uneven levels of political understanding. Several factors influencing low participation include individual awareness, family influence, peer interaction, and exposure to information through social media. While formal education and digital media play a role in shaping political awareness, many first-time voters still make decisions irrationally and without critical consideration. These findings highlight the urgent need to enhance political literacy to foster more informed and active participation among young voters in democratic processes.
