The purpose of this research was to describe the improvement of writing skill through project based learning model students in class VII D State Junior High School 1 Tumi Jajar in academic year 2015/2016. This research is a Classroom Action Research conducted in three cycles. The result of improving the ability to write text in class VII D State Junior High School 1 Tumi Jajar implementing project based learning model has increased from pre-cycle, cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III. In prasiklus learners get an average score of 66.57 and learners who reach KKM 12.50%, cycle I average score of 73.57 and learners who reach KKM 18.75%, cycle II average value 80 , 28 and students who reach KKM 25%, cycle III average value 89,89 and learners reaching KKM 84,38%.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan menulis melalui model project based learning pada peserta didik kelas VII D SMP Negeri 1 Tumi Jajar tahun pelajaran 2015/2016. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Hasil peningkatan kemampuan menulis teks dikelas VII D SMP Negeri 1 Tumijajar yang menerapkan model PBL mengalami peningkatan dari prasiklus, siklus I, siklus II, dan siklus III. Pada prasiklus peserta didik memperoleh nilai rata-rata 66,57 dan peserta didik yang mencapai KKM 12,50%, siklus I nilai rata-rata 73,57 dan peserta didik yang mencapai KKM 18,75%, siklus II nilai rata-rata 80,28 dan peserta didik yang mencapai KKM 25%, siklus III nilai rata-rata 89,89 dan peserta didik yang mencapai KKM 84,38%.Kata kunci: model project based learning, menulis teks.
