This study aims to explain the use of language in social media using a psycholinguistic approach. This descriptive qualitative research data is taken from the comment`s column of Ria Ricis's TikTok account. The time for data collection is throughout 2021. Data was collected through listening to various texts and then recorded on data cards. The validity of the data through triangulation of theory, data sources, and methods. Data were analyzed using the distribution method with advanced techniques for direct elements. The results showed that the habit of turning over, abbreviating, removing syllables and acronyms was done in informal situations. The reasons for doing these four things are because they are group characteristics, have closeness, and so that they are fast. As a result, language on social media tends to be disobedient. In fact, in addition to the non-formal variety, one must also master the formal variety. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplanasikan penggunaan bahasa di media sosial dengan menggunakan pendekatan Psikolinguistik. Data penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini diambil dari kolom komentar akun TikTok Ria Ricis. Pengumpulan data dilaksanakan sepanjang tahun 2021. Data dikumpulkan dengan menyimak berbagai teks lalu dicatat di kartu data. Keabsahan data diuji melalui triangulasi teori, sumber data, dan metode. Data dianalisis menggunakan metode agih dengan teknik lanjutan bagi unsur langsung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebiasaan membalik, menyingkat, menghilangkan suku kata, dan pengakroniman dilakukan dalam situasi tidak resmi. Dilakukannya keempat hal tersebut untuk mencirikan kelompok, menandakan kedekatan, dan mengefisienkan waktu dan ruang. Dengan demikian, bahasa di media sosial cenderung tidak taat kaidah. Padahal, selain ragam nonformal, seseorang juga harus menguasai ragam formal.
