PERAN MINDFULNESS TERHADAP STRES AKADEMIK PADA MAHASISWA TINGKAT AKHIR UNIVERSITAS X JAKARTA

Abstract

ABSTRACT Final-year university students often face high levels of academic pressure due to thesis completion demands, complex coursework, and the transition toward entering the workforce. These pressures can trigger academic stress, which negatively impacts psychological well-being and learning performance. This study aims to analyze the role of mindfulness in reducing academic stress among final-year students at University X Jakarta and to identify gender differences in mindfulness and academic stress. Using a quantitative approach with a simple linear regression design, the study involved 410 final-year students aged 20–25. Data were collected online using the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) and the Perceived Academic Stress Scale (PAS). The analysis included regression assumption tests, simple linear regression, and Independent Samples t-test. The findings indicate that mindfulness has a significant and negative effect on academic stress, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.123, meaning that mindfulness contributes 12.3% to the reduction of academic stress. Additionally, gender differences were observed: male students demonstrated higher mindfulness levels and lower academic stress compared to female students. This study concludes that mindfulness serves as a protective factor in reducing academic stress, although most of the stress variance is influenced by factors beyond mindfulness. These findings highlight the importance of implementing mindfulness-enhancement programs in higher education as a strategy to support the mental well-being of final-year students. ABSTRAK Mahasiswa tingkat akhir sering menghadapi tekanan akademik yang tinggi akibat tuntutan penyelesaian skripsi, beban tugas kompleks, serta persiapan transisi menuju dunia kerja. Tekanan ini berpotensi memicu stres akademik yang berdampak pada kesejahteraan psikologis dan performa belajar. Penelitian ini menganalisis peran mindfulness dalam menurunkan tingkat stres akademik pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir di Universitas X Jakarta, serta mengidentifikasi perbedaan tingkat mindfulness dan stres akademik berdasarkan jenis kelamin. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain regresi linear sederhana yang melibatkan 410 mahasiswa tingkat akhir berusia 20–25 tahun. Data dikumpulkan secara daring menggunakan instrumen Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) dan Perceived Academic Stress Scale (PAS), kemudian dianalisis melalui uji asumsi regresi, regresi linear sederhana, dan Independent Samples t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mindfulness berpengaruh signifikan dan negatif terhadap stres akademik dengan nilai koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,123, yang berarti mindfulness berkontribusi 12,3% dalam menurunkan stres akademik. Selain itu, ditemukan perbedaan berdasarkan jenis kelamin, di mana mahasiswa laki-laki memiliki tingkat mindfulness lebih tinggi dan stres akademik lebih rendah dibandingkan mahasiswa perempuan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa mindfulness berperan sebagai faktor protektif dalam mengurangi stres akademik, namun sebagian besar varians stres dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain di luar mindfulness. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya pengembangan program peningkatan mindfulness di perguruan tinggi sebagai strategi mendukung kesehatan mental mahasiswa tingkat akhir.
