The productivity of loading and excavating equipment is influenced by several parameters, including cycle time, bucket fill factor, swell factor, and work efficiency. The target productivity for the Komatsu PC4000 shovel is 1,440 BCM/hour, while the target productivity for the Hitachi EX3600 is also 1,440 BCM/hour. The methodology employed in this study is observational analysis of overburden removal activities. Observations were conducted on both mechanical equipment parameters (cycle time, delay time, and bucket fill factor) and material properties (density and swell factor). The data collected from field observations were then processed using computer-based analysis to obtain the actual productivity of the loading and excavating equipment. Based on the observations and simulation results, it was found that productivity improvements can be achieved by optimizing the cycle time of each loading and excavating unit using statistical methods. The cycle time of the Komatsu PC4000 shovel was improved from 26.13 seconds to 25.61 seconds, resulting in a target productivity achievement of 100.42%. Meanwhile, the cycle time of the Hitachi EX3600 was improved from 28.22 seconds to 25.05 seconds, achieving a target productivity level of 100.74%.
