Abstract

Abstract – This article critically discusses the existence of the Islamic Guidance and Counseling Study Program (BPI) amid the dynamics of contemporary Islamic higher education. The transformation of IAIN into UIN, the rise of modern counseling sciences, and shifting social realities have created new challenges for BPI’s academic identity and relevance. The article asserts that BPI’s existence is not merely a matter of nomenclature but relates to academic legitimacy, social relevance, and its strategic position within higher education policy. Using a literature review and critical-reflective analysis, this paper proposes four strategic agendas: affirming a prophetic dakwah epistemology, reformulating an integrative and contextual curriculum, strengthening prophetic graduate competencies, and repositioning institutional roles. With the addition of recent data on BPI FDIKOM UIN Jakarta’s national and international accreditations, the article argues that BPI has great potential to remain relevant and transformative in the era of the Fifth Industrial Revolution.
