<![CDATA[Background: Hypertension in the elderly is a major public health problem due to its strong association with serious complications, including cardiovascular disease and stroke. The development of hypertension in older adults is influenced by multiple factors, encompassing lifestyle behaviors, psychosocial conditions, and environmental influences. Objective: This study aimed to identify factors influencing the occurrence of hypertension among elderly individuals through a literature review. Methods: A literature review was conducted using articles retrieved from reputable databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Relevant studies were identified using predefined keywords related to hypertension and elderly populations. The article selection process followed the PRISMA approach, and the methodological quality of the included studies was assessed using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) instrument. Results: The review findings indicated that unhealthy dietary patterns, physical inactivity, obesity, limited family support, inadequate knowledge about hypertension, and unfavorable environmental factors were the main contributors to hypertension in the elderly. These factors were consistently reported across the included studies as having a significant influence on blood pressure control in older adults. Conclusion: Hypertension in the elderly is influenced by a complex interaction of lifestyle, psychosocial, and environmental factors. Comprehensive and integrated interventions focusing on lifestyle modification, health education, strengthening family and social support, and improving elderly-friendly healthcare environments are essential to enhance hypertension prevention and management among older adults.]]>
