Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh peran kepala sekolah sangat penting dalam upaya meningkatkan motivasi dan kinerja guru Pendidikan Agama Islam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan strategi yang diterapkan kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan motivasi dan kinerja guru Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI). Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus di beberapa sekolah dasar dan menengah negeri di wilayah tertentu. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara interpretatif untuk memahami berbagai strategi yang dilakukan kepala sekolah dalam membangun motivasi dan meningkatkan kinerja guru PAI. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah mengimplementasikan berbagai strategi, seperti pemberian penghargaan, peningkatan kompetensi melalui pelatihan, serta penciptaan iklim kerja yang suportif dan kolaboratif. Strategi tersebut terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi kerja dan kualitas kinerja guru PAI, yang pada akhirnya berpengaruh positif terhadap mutu pembelajaran. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan manajemen pendidikan dan kepemimpinan sekolah, khususnya dalam konteks peningkatan motivasi dan kinerja tenaga pengajar PAI.   This research is motivated by the very important role of the principal in efforts to improve the motivation and performance of Islamic Religious Education teachers. This study aims to identify and describe the strategies implemented by school principals to improve the motivation and performance of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers. The approach used was qualitative research with a case study method in several public elementary and secondary schools in a specific region. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed interpretively to understand the various strategies employed by school principals to build motivation and improve the performance of PAI teachers. The results showed that school principals implemented various strategies, such as providing rewards, improving competency through training, and creating a supportive and collaborative work climate. These strategies proved effective in improving the work motivation and performance quality of PAI teachers, which ultimately had a positive impact on the quality of learning. This research contributes to the development of educational management and school leadership, particularly in the context of improving the motivation and performance of PAI teachers.
