Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of optimism and social support, both simultaneously and partially as predictors of academic resilience in final year students. This study uses a quantitative approach with associative methods, which is causal correlation. The research subjects totaled 389 students from 21 public and private universities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. There were three data collection instruments used, namely the academic resilience scale (ARS-30), optimism (LOT-R), and social support (MSPSS). The results of the analysis show that optimism and social support are simultaneously and partially predictors of academic resilience in final year students. The contribution of optimism and social support to academic resilience is 51.2%, with details of optimism by 44% and social support by 7%.
