Social studies as one of the subjects in elementary school has extensive and complex material. Based on observations, the large amount of material makes students quickly bored. The complexity of social studies material needs to be simplified so that it is easy to understand and apply by students. Therefore, teachers need to have good competence in teaching social studies so that the material is easier for students to accept. This study aims to analyze the importance of four teacher competencies in developing social studies learning at SDN 02 Cikawung. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The results of the study indicate that pedagogical and professional competencies have a real impact on the effectiveness of learning activities. Pedagogical competence is reflected in the teacher's ability to compile structured and relevant learning tools, while professional competence is seen in the mastery of the material and the use of diverse and innovative learning methods and media. Personality and social competence, which are related to the character and interaction of teachers, also play an important role in creating a harmonious and positive learning environment. Personality and social competence are important in developing social studies learning because teachers can collaborate with the surrounding community and be role models for the application of real material concepts. These two competencies are also important in creating harmonious relationships with students, fellow teachers, parents, and the community as well as building a positive learning atmosphere.
